What will a PT visit entail?

With over 24 years of experience in the physical therapy, Mia has spent her career enjoying the variety of diagnoses and patient populations that general outpatient orthopedic practice brings. She loves the challenge of uncovering a diagnosis and crafting a treatment program that is individualized and dynamic to fit each person’s goals and unique needs. Mia incorporates manual therapy (including dry needling), exercise prescription, mind-body wellness, and other modalities and treatments to achieve outcomes that reach each patient’s goals. Each visit, lasting 45-60 minutes, consists of an updated assessment and individualized treatment to address needs discovered during the assessment.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is a technique that uses a thin monofilament needle to “reset” the neuromuscular system. It is typically applied in combination with electrical stimulation which increases comfort and physiological effects. It can be applied for a wide variety of goals including:

  • Increasing blood flow

  • Reducing inflammation

  • Improving mobility

  • Improving motor control/strength

  • Reducing pain

Mia is an expert dry needling practitioner who has been incorporating this into her practice since 2011. She has been teaching other clinicians how to apply this tool to their own practices since 2013. Teaching helps keep her up to date on the latest applications and research on dry needling.
